True artistry of any sort is not something chosen by an individual. It chooses them. And gifts are given not for vain glory, but for a much higher purpose. Many artists never come to realize this. In my case, it has taken years to get me out of the way in order for that higher purpose to be realized.

The gift of music is a very powerful medium and it comes with a responsibility. We can pull people down to the depths of hell or lift them to the heights of heaven with the medium of music. Sometimes a song is the one thing that will make someone stop and think in a way that mere words alone could never do. It can change a life forever.

When it comes to songwriting, I take it very seriously, even if I'm writing along the lines of a sarcastic parody, which I sometimes do to get a point across. Making the world a better place is what matters most, and regardless of our skills and talents, if we're not trying to do that, then it really doesn't matter how gifted and skilled we are. In some small measure, I hope to touch a life or two,
